Quantem celebrates completion of Gilbert House affordable extra care development

Quantem is celebrating the successful completion of Gilbert House, a new £15.9 million extra care housing development in Hucknall that will provide 73 affordable apartments for people aged 55 and over.
Delivered in partnership with Preferred Homes, Deeley Construction and the wider project team, the development on Watnall Road has transformed the former police station site into a modern, sustainable community that will help older people live independently while accessing the care and support they need.
The scheme comprises 66 one-bedroom and seven two-bedroom affordable rent apartments, alongside an on-site bistro café, landscaped gardens and a range of communal spaces designed to encourage social interaction for residents and the wider community.
Quantem provided project and cost management services throughout the project, working closely with the client, contractor and consultant team to help deliver the development while maintaining a focus on quality, value and long-term outcomes.
The project has been part-funded through Homes England’s Affordable Homes Programme and will be managed by Pinnacle Group.
Designed with sustainability in mind, Gilbert House incorporates rooftop photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points, helping to reduce operational costs and minimise the building’s environmental impact.
The development also generated significant social value during construction, supporting local businesses, apprenticeships and education initiatives across Nottinghamshire.
