Tell us about your journey leading to Quantem

I had always been interested in property, land and buildings so I looked at this as a possible career after university. I did a Geography degree but after looking more into Surveying I wanted to see how I could get into that kind of career, and Quantity Surveying looked the most interesting to me. After meeting Quantem at my university careers fair they explained to me about how I could join but also do a Masters degree in Quantity Surveying alongside working which seemed like the best way to get into the industry. I started my Masters degree in September 2020 and started at Quantem in October 2020.

Why Quantem?

Quantem had a range of projects in different sectors and presented a great opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry. But more than that, Quantem do several social events such as an annual ski trip, and summer sporting activities which made Quantem look like a great company to be a part of.

What have you been working on?

I have been involved in both pre and post contract roles for commercial fit outs and refurbishments, life sciences and retail. I have been given the opportunity to take projects from early feasibility stages through to completion which has helped expand my professional knowledge and abilities as a Quantity Surveyor.

How has Quantem helped you?

The people at Quantem are some of the best in the industry and its been great to be able to learn from them. Not only has this helped develop my knowledge but also in developing within the industry and providing a high level of service to clients.

What are your career aspirations?

I have just passed my APC which was a big career aspiration of mine. Next I am looking to take on more responsibility in the company and hopefully encourage more women into the Construction industry and particularly Quantity Surveying.
